Do Add The Travel Insurance!
I was never a believer in travel insurance. I kind of just liked to roll the dice, and take the chance that all would go well.
Last winter, I booked a multi-city trip to Chicago, Philadelphia, New York and Burlington, Vermont. At the last minute I decided to add the insurance… Had a feeling I might be needing it.
All the cities had been getting hit hard with snow, and the weather forecast was predicting more. I thought I might get stuck somewhere. Everything went well until I was on my way home.
Ironically, the problem wasn’t weather related! Halfway through the boarding process the airline announced that there was a hazardous spill on board… Long story short… A full blown HAZMAT team arrived, the flight was seriously delayed and I scrambled to find another flight home.
I was given a standby ticket, and four hours later finally got on a flight to LAX. The only problem was, I missed the last connection to Santa Barbara, which is HOME! I had to take a shuttle bus!
Thankfully I had the insurance. It covered the extra expense of the bus, plus food, and drinks from when I was stuck in Philadelphia. Would I purchase it again? Absolutely! I now add it to all my trips, and have actually needed to use it on three more occasions.

Here are the travel insurance companies I recommend. They both have solid reputations, and reasonable prices.
World Nomads
World Nomads is one of the most popular travel insurance companies for travelers. They get pretty good reviews, and cover more than just health issues. Trip cancellations, theft, car insurance, and more are some of what is covered.
Travelex Insurance
Travelex has a wide range of travel insurance plans. Coverage includes trip cancellation, trip interruption, trip delay, baggage loss, emergency medical, dental expenses, and more. I’ve had to submit a couple claims, and the process was smooth & quick!
